Significance
The mosque is named after its unusual minaret with three balconies (serefe). Its typology contains triangular pendentives in the Bursa manner and the pair of domes on each side resembling the old zawiyas.

State of Preservation
After the 1752 earthquake the mosque had been repared in 1763. It had been totally restored in 1930 and the frescoes were restored in 1999.
